I presently work at CDC Office of Public Health Genomics as a research specialist in epidemiology. While I am especially devoted to photography, other hobbies of mine include freshwater fish-keeping, gardening, origami, and riding my bike.
Photography's beautiful balance between art and science has captivated me since childhood. One of my most precious memories is of my Mom lugging her ancient Minolta SLR through wind, sweat, sun, and rain to record memories of our family. The opportunity to record people in their environment - to connect with other humans through a camera lens - will always be one of the things I cherish most about photography.
I always look forward to assignments that challenge my technical skills as well as my creative thinking. Also valuable to me are the many opportunities I have to re-connect with old friends through my photography work. In each photographic situation I encounter, I seek to explore and overcome the technical challenges it presents and not to simply record an instance, but to convey the emotion and contex of that moment.
And finally, photography is the perfect way to share with you a piece of the world that I have seen and to show you the way I see it.
Thank you sincerely for visiting my galleries!
